Drama Painting #11
Soldier of Feelings II (Drama Paintings)
In his text-paintings, Man Schneider uses sentence fragments that come from numerous interviews with artist friends. They deal with feelings of presence, being, or revolve around questions of meaning in art – sentences between self-assertion and doubt. Stacked on top of one another and highlighted in color, they are reminiscent of a bunch of lines, of term capsules. The paintings announce a world as an image space of isolation, communication, irony and self-affirmation. The sentence fragments or the textual spaces appear as compression of thoughts, similar to his video work Soldier of Feelings, in which interviews with members of various alternative communes from the 1970s and 1980s form the textual basis.
