Art Amsterdam 2012 cancelled

The Board of Amsterdam RAI decided to cancel the edition of Art Amsterdam 2012 scheduled to take place this September in the Kromhouthal in Amsterdam North. Livingstone gallery was looking forward to participate in the fair with a special presentation of works by Ryan Mendoza, Raquel Maulwurf, Daniele Galliano and Birgit Verwer.

The 2012 edition of Art Amsterdam was designed to be a fresh start for the 27-year old exhibition. In addition to changing the dates and location to fit in better with the international art calendar, the idea was that the exhibition would be more compact and selective than previous editions in order to increase quality levels. This new course was established after detailed consultation with exhibitors, visitors and members of the exhibition and selection committees. Unfortunately, the number of registrations was below expectations and showed that the format did not have a sufficiently wide support from the potential exhibitor field. It is also clear that the current financial crisis, which has also affected the art sector, has been another key factor.
